Fatal Fitness

Hey everyone; new to the Fatal Fitness community, just wanna say hi first.

Well here's where I'm coming from... I've been really thinking about enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps (once I'm old enough) and I really wanna start out strong in the PFT (Physical Fitness Test). For all of you that aren't familiar with military training, better PFT scores = better reflection upon yourself. So I did some research and I found the Marine Corps PFT score chart. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marines/l/blfitmale.htm

I wanted to see where I'm at right now so I went through each of the events and I inputted my scores into a PFT score calculator. They weren't what I hoped for. I been gradually trying to increase those scores and even though they've improved, I'm still only in 2nd Class.

Okay, so my question is: Does my performance have anything to do with my age? I'm only about 15 and the charts are based around 18-25 year olds.

Ben- first off, welcome to FF!

Does your performance have to do with your age? Yes and no.

Yes, it does, in that you are very young and have a really great capacity to improve in every physical capacity as you get older. And yes also in that once you pass your prime, you can still always improve but there's less potential there.

No, in that as a 15 year old, there is no reason you can't still have a really great score on the PFT or on any other physical benchmark. You are hitting an age where you are able to challenge yourself much more than you safely could have just a couple years ago. So here's where the hard work begins. Are you up to it?
Thanks Mike, that reply was pretty motivating. I understand now that if I wanna see those scores in the 1st Class range, I'm gonna have to step up my routine.

Again, thanks Mike and the FF community for your time.
