Yeah, we could probably hit them up to give us a shout out I think. So I hear you're going over there for something, to be embedded with someone, how did you swing that?

I think it is called being in denial about getting old.

Though all the applications have been sent in, I don't have the permits yet. The Nat'l Guard from where I was a juvenile delinquent has been mobilized by Obama for the first time since their grand fathers bought it at Bataan as part of the surge and freelancers are being accepted now. Over the years I've also written a couple articles for the national english language paper and wangled a column out of a couple small local papers on the basis of the absurdity of someone from a country with no army going to Afghanistan.

Just to be sure, on Monday, I am going to bug the Spanish Embassy about embedding with the Spanish Foreign Legion. It turns out that they are all Spanish and trying to get past the "Long Live Death" and "Fiances of Death" stuff. I would rather go with the real thing, but don't speak French. For whoever is young enough to be interested, there is reason to believe that the French Foreign Legion is getting hard up for recruits.

Fox News is blatant propaganda and I've caught CNN spinning a West Point Center on Counter Terrorism article into a "let's needlessly scare the shit out of everybody in the US." Have you got a better way to find out what is really going on than going there?
