Hey guys, so I will be getting into the ETG workouts with rucking in a few days and I was wondering which pack is preferred, ALICE or MOLLE. I've heard the MOLLE is more comfortable, but that the ALICE is used during training? I just want to get whatever pack will be used in the schoolhouse so that I am already used to it. They both cost about the same.
thanks, Jeff

A used, large ALICE with frame straps, and belt is pretty easy to get cheap on ebay or amazon. What I did after that was buy the MOLLE shoulder straps and belt on ebay as well.
This setup is pretty inexpensive, but I'll tell you that the MOLLE shoulder straps and belt are a big improvement in terms of comfort. Use those on an ALICE frame and ruck and you're set.
If you are too lazy to do the research for a used ALICE and "molle shoulder straps for ALICE" then I'll find some links for you.

AR-15.com has a really good post on how to do it. It's not that complicated either, plus I am available to help.
Permalink Reply by Harrison Lee on July 10, 2012 at 12:39pm I did the GoRuck with a frankenALICE setup as mentioned above. It's very much more comfortable than regular ALICE straps just because of the extra surface area that allows for that much more distribution over your shoulders when rucking. My question is in the schoolhouse what is the official call on rucks? Is it ALICE only? Can you actually use MOLLE shoulder straps on your ALICE without Cadre calling you on it? Semantics I suppose, a ruck is a ruck, but every advantage helps.
