i hear that bmt leaves alot of ppl outta shape and you can be discharged from airforce if you dont make the cut in tacp so should i instead enlist in a different mos and then crosstrain to ensure i have time to reach peak condition and so i dont get discharged.

ps i have elite training guide but no equipment or pool so i cant do that workout but if i was enlisted i would have access on base

If you go to basic training in good condition you wont be that out of shape when you report to TACP training. If for some reason you don't make through TACP the AF will give you an option to get out or pick another AFSC. If you wash out and pick another AFSC you have the option to cross train back to TACP after 12 or 18 months. If TACP is your goal, get in shape and join and I am sure you will be fine. You don't need any equipment, do push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and run and you will pass their basic PT tests. Check with your local recruiter for the most up to date PAST Test standards before you join, they should have all the info you need.
man, you do not want to go through the crosstraining process. If TACP is what you want, then you will find anyway to work for it. Or you can end up in some shitty career field that you hate wishing you had done something different(Trust Me.)

Crosstraining is not necessarily an easy process. Lots of paper work, time, luck, and if you get into a critically manned career field you might not be able to at all. Crosstraining is never a guarentee.

Basic only gets you out of shape if you let it. You won't make any gains, but there were kids who were throwing their duffel bags on their backs, doing pushups, getting creative. Just go all out on the runs when you have run days, and you'll be ok.

LIke Brad said...do what you can. Burpee your little heart out, do pushups everytime you walk into your house. Learn about Tabata's...GPP Training..Fartlek and Interval running. I'm sure you can find weights. Someone has dumbells. Buy a medicine ball, an Iron Gym pullup bar is cheap. There is always something. YMCA memeberships are real cheap, or ask your local high school if you can get into the weight room assuming the athletic director didn't hate you.
I agree 100% , while I am not yet a certified 1C4, I was set to go Security Forces until my recruiter talked me into Comm because of my ASVAB score. This has been the most miserable "almost" 3 years of my life. Sign up for what YOU want, the first time.

Cross training is always an option, but winning BTZ and awards are even more difficult when you hate going to work every day ;) LOL
For anyone thinking about going TACP or have questions about the 1C4 career field, ROMAD.com is an awesome website. To read their forum, click on the communications tab at the top of the screen. Word of advice, don't just go on there and start asking questions. Use the search tab and do some research first. Chances are someone has asked the same question before.
yeah you can find tips on what to do at BMT in a free e-book in our store.
yeah, these guys got it right, Chughes and i went through the TACP schoolhouse together ( WHAT"S UP BOSTON ) but we both got eliminated. and yeah the whole reclassing into another career field... SUCKS HORRIBLY... but yeah it's good times, but when your there you have to put everything out on the line, you have to really want it, and if you do you will find a way to make it through. if you haven't went to basic yet, and some in's and out's to your day ( start with a room that you go through alot, everytime you go in and out of that room, do either pushups, situps or if you have a bar, pullups. whatever your lacking the most in or make do it through out the week ( like monday- pushups, tuesday-situps, and so on)
and definetly do the workouts on this site
whats up fish! wanna get some wild turkey with me? hahaha
ahh, the good ol' florida days... nothing much man, i started rucking, started out with a good 6 mile with 60 lbs.. it felt awesome, forgot how much i enjoyed the pain the next morning
