Subbing for rowing- bike, even an elliptical.  It's meant to be a non-impact cardio/interval workout, so either of those would suffice.

 

Those could also pseudo-sub for pools, but the difference there is that you're getting way more oxygen than you would while swimming.  Try "cal-breathing", which there's probably a few mentions of here and there on the site.
